 A college degree with 3-5 years of experience working with gifted, dyslexic and/or twice exceptional elementary school age children and 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit management or equivalent experience.

Education Program Specialist 2 - Curriculum Specialist - Talented & Gifted, Office of Educational Improvement & Innovation (EII) at the Oregon Department of Education in Salem

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position researches instructional strategies shown to be effective with Talented and Gifted (TAG) students and work with districts to implement effective instructional strategies.  Major duties include:

bulletPlan for statewide focus and implementation of TAG education in collaboration with TAG regional centers.
bulletCreate, manage and maintain a plan for TAG education.
bulletProfessional technical support to school districts in the implementation of TAG Oregon Revised Statutes and Oregon Administrative Rules.
bulletManage parent, student, teacher, school and school district questions about TAG services and best practices.
bulletManage formal complaints from parents about school district compliance.
bulletCreate, update and distribute resources and materials for teachers and district administrators.
bulletProvide technical assistance to Oregon Department of Education counsel in agency TAG litigation.
bulletDevelop, coordinate and deliver professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators.
bulletCollaborate with TAG regional centers in planning professional development for TAG education.
bulletCollect, analyze and report data on TAG students.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires a flexible work schedule which involves stateside travel, some overnight, and some evening and weekend work.  You must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record or be able to provide an acceptable alternate method of transportation.  
 
TO QUALIFY  

Your PD100 application form will be reviewed to verify that you meet the requirements stated in this section.  To receive credit, your application form must clearly show that you have a:

bulletMaster’s degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university and five years of education experience in the specialty area under recruitment (e.g., classroom teacher, counselor, itinerant service provider), two years of which includes leadership experience (e.g., lead teacher, program coordinator or director, school administrator) in the specialty area under recruitment.
 
A Doctorate in Education or related field from an accredited university may substitute for two years of the education experience, but not for the two years of leadership experience.
 
An Oregon Standard Administrative License (issued by Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission) may substitute for the two years of leadership experience.  Submit a copy of your license with your application to receive credit.

Gifted Development Center, CO - Looking for a few Good Testers!

The Gifted Development Center is seeking to hire additional examiners.  We are looking for qualified individuals who are experienced in administering individual IQ tests. We expect our testers to also be experienced with gifted children and their families, to share our passion for this population and be able to develop rapport with young gifted children.

We hold extremely high standards of report writing for all of our staff. All reports go through a rigorous review process; therefore, it will also be necessary for candidates to generate well-written reports. Sample reports, with all identifying information removed, should be submitted with resumes. It wouldn’t hurt to be able to read upside-down, as well!
